“Some time ago, we introduced you to Aletheia Casey’s A Lost Place on the Fisheye website. The series, now brought together in a beautiful book, crystallises what the artist experienced during the fires that ravaged Australia in 2019 and 2020.

It is the result of several years of work that became a necessary form of meditation. This allowed her to give physical form to memories that still haunt her.

This experimental project combines two bodies of work: one consisting of photographs made in various zoological museums in the United Kingdom, where she now lives; the other comprising images of landscapes immortalised during a stay in her native country.

Without ever showing the flames, she immerses us in a singular atmosphere that questions the history of her country.”
